n Reflective Fill-Color Liquid Crystal Display

Developed a worldfs first single-polarizer type reflective full-color LCD with high reflectivity, high contrast ratio (50:1), moving-image capability and extremely low power consumption (less than 1mW) and contributed to the commercialization of low power reflective displays.

 

n Wide-View Polarizer and Circular Polarizer, and establishment of wide viewing angle technology for liquid crystal displays

Proposed an achromatic wide-view polarizer and circular polarizer using biaxial phase retarders and developed the first IPS-mode LCD using achromatic wide–viewing angle polarizer for large sized LCD-TV applications.

 

 

 

n Ultra High Resolution Field-Sequential-Color LCD

ΰ–Ύ: ΰ–Ύ: 2ŽŸŽŽμŽΚ^Established the field sequential color display technologies including a color breakup reduction, TFT-driving scheme, scanning LED backlight and developed the first 14.5inch diagonal double-rate (360Hz) field sequential color OCB-mode LCD and 6.5inch diagonal FULL-HD field sequential color OCB-mode LCD.

 

 

 

 

n High precision measurement method for LC parameters, and analysis of surface alignment of liquid crystal

Establish a measurement method of refractive indices and alignment distribution of liquid crystal molecules and Discotic liquid crystal compensation films based on the new ellipsometric analysis technique. This led to the development of fast response (< 2msec) OCB-mode LCD panel.
